AU INTERVIEW WITH RAMONA FOR RELEASE OF 'LISTEN UP'

There is a certain type of delight in the voice of Ramona from Dark Fair as she speaks to me over the phone from the tranquil Treasury Gardens in Melbourne. She's friendly, and totally easy to speak to. 'Listen Up' sounds certainly all bouncy too, but something a little more gritty lies in the lyrics. Ramona explains all this to Philippe Perez.

Dark Fair @ Old Bar (Melbourne) - Casual Band Blogger

The night opened with Adelaide band The Aves. These guys got a real boppy indie rock sound. It kind of made me think of The Libertines mixed with Dinosaur Jr. I particularly enjoyed the tasteful riffs from the lead guitarist accompanied by the jangly Rickenbacker rhythm guitar. A really strong opening for what was yet to come.

DARK FAIR

Dark Fair is an alt-rock duo from Melbourne. Founded in 2012, the band consists of Ramona Moore (lead vocals and guitar), and Ellie Dunn (drums and vocals)

The band has supported the likes of Sleater-Kinney, Veruca Salt, Adalita, Jen Cloher, Ecca Vandal and Kingswood.

Dark Fair recently finished their debut album, 'Off Into My Head' which the band produced alongside co-producers Adalita Srsen (Magic Dirt) and Marcieca Page (Iron On).

Their music has been described as a mix of Interpol, PJ Harvey, The Breeders and Joy Division.

'First Thing I Become' is the lead single from the album – a song about resilience, self-acceptance and striving for contentment.

Dark Fair's last single, 'Listen Up' in 2015, received airplay on Triple J, high rotation on Double J, plus airplay on community stations across Australia.

Their songs have appeared on the popular TV series 'Wentworth', and in 2017, 'Listen Up' was featured in the official AFL Women’s video.
